Statistical occurrence of soliton content in the conventional optical WDM signals
Published in 2020 International Conference Laser Optics (ICLO), 2020
The random process corresponding to the information content of a conventional optical WDM signal statistically creates conditions leading to soliton occurrence. We quantify the statistics of soliton component occurrence in standard telecom signals, considering a return-to-zero pulse carrying multiple WDM channels with QPSK, 16-, 64- and 1024-QAM modulation. See also the related OFDM and OFDM/WDM return-to-zero studies.
